Mobile Release: Android Chat & Onboarding Improvements

A Cleaner Way for Parents to Join and a Better Chat on Android

The latest Android release tackles two things that quietly cost you time: messy account creation and clunky in-app chat. Parents now have a clear path to join the right way, and the chat experience finally feels like the messaging apps everyone already uses.

A clearer, parent-first account creation flow

Account creation now leads with a team code and gives parents an explicit path of their own. Instead of guessing their way through setup, a parent enters the code, identifies as a parent, and lands exactly where they should.

Why this matters: one of the most common sources of bad data is a parent accidentally signing up as a player. That single mix-up creates duplicate records, broken rosters, and cleanup work that lands on your admin's desk. The new flow is designed to prevent it before it happens.

A new My Players experience

Once a parent is in, the new My Players experience makes managing kids straightforward. Parents can:

  • Link an existing player to their account

  • Confirm matches when the system finds a likely player

  • Create a new player when there isn't one yet

The result is accurate parent-to-player connections from the start — fewer duplicates, fewer "which account is this kid on?" questions, and less manual cleanup for your staff.

Chat that finally feels like chat

We also gave the Android chat composer a serious upgrade so messaging your members feels natural:

  • Emoji reactions: react to a message without firing off another notification

  • Expanding message box: the composer grows as you type multiple lines, so you can see the whole message before you send

  • Auto-capitalization and spell check: cleaner, more professional messages with no extra effort

  • Improved copy and paste: moving text in and out of the composer just works now

Small things, but they add up to chat that people actually want to use — which means better communication between your staff, coaches, and families.

Why it matters

Two themes run through this release: data integrity and everyday usability. Cleaner onboarding keeps your rosters accurate and your admin out of cleanup mode, while the chat improvements make day-to-day communication smoother for everyone in your program.
